Ode to Austin
posted 11/27/06 by Gretchen Hunter
Im coming home soon
And boy am I anxious
Im counting the miles
Nothing rhymes with anxious
It might be the 4th or maybe the 5th
Austin and the people have more than been missed.
With my traveling zoo and atlas in hand
I was headed northbound
couldn't wait to see the ol' stompin ground,
I missed Wyoming some, but my friends more than ever,
I was reminded of times that i thought i'd never forget
but i had, luckily those old memories were not gone
but pushed back and temporarily replaced by some new ones.
Memory lane had grown a few new speed bumps.
This trip has showed me why i am me
I knew then and know now that i will never be lonely
I wish i could've see more folks than i did
But i can keep in touch via myspace (did i mention im addictied)
My roadtrip was amazing, I know that i'm lucky
I am coming back with more than new memories.
I found peices of me that i thought may be gone
I realized that they had been there all along
I saw what i had, what i have, and what I want
Past, present, future, and the thrill of the Hunter
Turns out Texas is the place i now call home
So I pointed my compas south and started to go
I only forgot one thing, i should've been in my car
My knee hit the coffee table, i think it may scar.
I learned from my mistake and went around that damn table,
Here I come Lone Star State
Ready, willing, and able.
