Broadcast Media

Optimistic Realism provides preproduction, production, and post production expertise with services ranging from storyboarding to editing and nearly everything in between. O.R. designers are skilled in Flash, Final Cut Pro, and numerous other editing software. Broadcast media services include: television commercials, radio, online, promotional videos, web animation, interactive demos, and Flash presentations.

01 Promotional Video Series: Open Field Artists is an art collective based in Missoula, Montana. Optimistic Realism developed a promotional video campaign to convey the organization with a tone of creativity and professionalism. Each of the three 1-2 minute commercials is a collage of original audio and video footage, highlighted distinct elements that defined the group and its many talents. 02 Television Commercial: Wyoming.com is an Internet Service Provider. This 30-second spot represented the advantages of networking a small business. This ad focuses on power and speed, as symbolized by running horses. O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, wrote the script and storyboard and then passed the project forward to a video production company to complete project. 03 Web Animation: This Flash animation is a 2-minute artistic representation of Optimistic Realism. The cartoon, loaded with a variety of 2D animation effects, demonstrates the array of capabilities available with Flash. The video measures just over 1.5MB; the small size of Flash SWF (Small Web Format or Shockwave Flash) media makes them remarkably fast to download compared to traditional online video formats. 04 Television Commercial: Chevrolet is a division of General Motors Corporation. Optimistic Realism storyboarded this 30-second spot for the Chevy Super Bowl Ad Challenge in 2006. View the storyboard image sequence and/or see the script.

05 Flash Presentation: American Heart Association is a non-profit organization headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Optimistic Realism photographed a 3-day AHA conference and then developed a video presentation to wrap-up the event with a photo showcase. The animated Flash presentation included an accompanying soundtrack. View a collection of stills from the presentation.

06 Online Video Demo: Visual Learning Systems is a computer software firm. This video demonstrates the map making capabilities of VLS' Feature Analyst and LIDAR Analyst software. Using historical footage, O.R. animator, Cabe Lindsay, compared the mapping technology of the 1930s with today's digital cartography as an illustration of advancement. This 2-minute video is less that 1MB in size, well-suited for online viewing and complete with film footage, animation, and impressive effects. Watch the video (new window will open).

07 Promotional Video: MoveStudio, based in Dallas, Texas, is a studio for dance, Pilates, yoga, Nia, fitness and movement arts. O.R. produced three 30-second commercials for use online and elsewhere in order to demonstrate and increase awareness about the Ecstatic Dance class, which is a free-form, expressive, meditative movement practice. 08 Television Commercial: This commercial targeted low- to medium-income families in the state of Wyoming with a cause-related marketing campaign to donate 14% of all customers' payments to their local school districts. This effort came in response to the published statistic that 68% of all Wyoming schools were in need of a better learning environment. 09 Promotional Video: This video's purpose was to show the advantages of utilizing VLS software to automate the map making process. This promo, created in Flash, was presented at GIS industry trade shows in front of audiences as big as 9,000 people. The video is primarily animated, including some 3D animation, and the content is commercial in nature but also artistic. See the video (19MB Flash Media will open in a new window).

10 Television Commercial: The Webwright is a full-service web development company based in Wyoming. This humorous commercial exaggerated the technical complexity in building a website. It aired throughout Wyoming on local network television. O.R. artists, Cabe Lindsay developed the storyboard, including art and copy. View the storyboard.

11 Television Commercial: This 15-second spot, plus two others which aired on PBS during its Hometime program, targeted middle-income homeowners in Wyoming. This group of people was the key audience targeted during the roll-out of Wyoming.com's high-speed Internet campaign in 2002. 12 Flash Virtual Tour: Black Hills Surgery Center is a specialty hospital that differentiates itself from other hospitals by offering a luxurious setting, gourmet meals, and comfortable rooms. Along with a website that showed the hospital's distinuished nature, BHSC requested a photo slideshow that highlighted the superior quality of the establishment. This Flash presentation was created by O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, as an employee of Prizm Development, not Optimistic Realism. See the virtual tour (3.2MB Flash Media will open in a new window).

13 Flash Animated Web Banner: The website for Spine Group Beverly Hills opens with a bit of California scenery: palm trees and clouds unfolding to a bright sun. Harmonizing with the animated banner imagery is a dynamic, Flash-generated navigation structure that neatly organizes the sites 50+ pages. This banner and navigation structure, as well as the website itself, was designed by O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, as an employee of Prizm Development, not Optimistic Realism. 14 Flash Animated Demo: ExpertNegotiator is a strategic negotiation software that helps businesses to function more efficiently. In support of the software roll-out marketing campaign, a design team was tasked with creating a motion graphics presentation that demonstrates the software in a compelling fashion. The spoken audio soundtrack offers additional information about what is being shown on the screen. The available sample Flash presentation is one in a series of seven demos animated by O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, as a sub-contractor of Target Scope, not Optimistic Realism.
