01 Soundtrack: Optimistic Realism composed the original soundtrack for the short film, Rainbow Shadow, by filmmaker, Joan Sheski, owner of Pure Watercolors. This audio track helps the film to achieve a sense of comfort and strength, while dealing sensitively with the "natural and transcendant qualities of the human breast," as the filmmaker describes this piece. 02 Video Collage: Optimistic Realism joined the Open Field Artists art collective in 2006, introducing digital art to the OFA repertoire, which featured improvisational comedy, dance, music, and more. O.R. recorded several OFA performances and then created art films using 20+ hours of original video footage. These films premiered at subsequent OFA performances. 03 Art Film: Spit Smile Speak is a documentary art film exploring the human mouth and all its magnificence. In addition to producing this 7-minute picture and recording the original soundtrack, O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, filled every role in the creation of this film: writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. 04 Music Recording: Cabe Lindsay is a music recording artist. His music varies in nature from electronic dance song to acoustic lullaby, with a sound reminiscent of Talking Heads. One song, All We Are Is Art, received a songwriting award by Kid Antrim Music, and appeared on its Rock Compilation album released in 2003. 05 Short Film: In the short film, Buzz Killer, three hunters pass around a bottle of whiskey on the night before a big hunt. A forest beast terrorizes them, seeking a buzz of its own. This art film is color-enhanced with an atmospherically-altered composition scheme and a wild soundtrack, also produced by Optimistic Realism. 06 Short Film: Baggage Lady is a poem told as a silent film. The story is about a woman's surreal experience of waking up with an emotional weight on her shoulders that grows heavier as she struggles through an ordinary day. Burdened by this ever growing 'baggage', she catches the eye of a mysterious man who is either a hero or villain. 07 Documentary Film: Artbeat - Episode 1 reveals a painter's entire painting process from sketch to signature, condensing three hours of video footage into a 1-minute documentary film. 08 Sporting Event: Club Boxing is the Rocky Mountain region's leader in semi-professional boxing. Sanctioned by the Montana State Board of Athletics, this is the real deal, complete with world-class boxers, referees, judges, and ring girls. Optimistic Realism filmed and edited one of Club Boxing's Friday Night Fights, held in Hamilton, Montana, featuring boxers Jordan Lindsay and Mike Gates. 09 Performance Event: The Missoula Art Museum, in Missoula, Montana, hosts a montly event called Artini, designed to bring together community members to celebrate free expression. Optimistic Realism recorded and edited an Artini event titled Around and Around (and Through), presented by Miss Ooola La and Her Company of Charismatic Megafauna.
