Optimistic Realism provides a myriad of alternative design services. In addition to the more common fine art services available for commission, the artists at O.R. are always pleased to venture into other territories as well. To illustrate the range of additional creative services we provide, below is a variety of unique, custom-designed beverage containers, hand-made greeting cards, and more.
Printed Glass: In a mountain town, like Missoula, Montana, home of the Badlander, the only thing that differentiates one bar's Moose Drool from another's is the logo on the pint glass. An Optimistic Realism design on a pint glass is lip-smacking delicious, be the lips grizzly-bearded or "lipsticked." View the stein design.
Printed Glass: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's famous terrain includes bowls, chutes, and 4100 vertical feet of skiing, the greatest continuous inbounds rise in the United States. O.R. artist, Cabe Lindsay, captures the immensity of the Grand Tetons with this artwork for coffee cups. The boarder sails solo through the pines and into a sea of powder. View the design.
Etched Glass: J-OKAY is a non-profit organization committed to upholding the rights of individuals in social situations where smoking is prohibited. The J-OKAY image signifies smoke-friendly households and businesses. O.R. etched the logo onto wine glasses for the modern times' spirited smoker. View the etched glass.
Greeting Card: Valentine's Day is a great time to customize a greeting card, and Optimistic Realism turns your inspiration into a work of art. Playing on a smoky theme, the card at right reads, “Can I ash you a question?” with the classic phrase inside: "Will you be my Valentine?" View the card.
Recipe Cards: The summer of 2003 was a learning season for Montana Fresh and Local, an organic produce distributor. Marketing research revealed that several of its certified organic vegetables were too foreign to the majority of its customers. Vegetables such as kohlrabi and tomatillos were selling minimally compared to the staples. In response to a surplus of supply, MFL increased demand by educating the customer. Arguably, the organization's most successful return on investment that year was a group of recipe tear sheets that featured the more uncommon vegetables, introducing exciting new cooking concepts to MFL's produce stand and farmer's market clients. 06 Etched Glass: The necks of two swans resemble a heart shape when facing each other. Optimistic Realism presented this set of four wine glasses and one carafe, all etched in swans, as a Valentine's Day gift, and a similar theme might also be fitting for a wedding or anniversary. View the wine glasses.
Printed Glass: The Camp-In Party, held in 2004, was an epic event for those who participated in the festivities. It was an indoor camping party with flashlights, a campfire piñata, marker mustache, watermelon broken over the head, super smores, storytelling, two face punches, one marriage, and a houseful of people making extraordinary moments from the ordinary. Last, but not least, there were coffee cups, designed by Optimistic Realism. View the artwork.
Greeting Card: Common Ground is an Organic Produce Farm. With this card, Common Ground offers "Warm Holiday Greetings" to every restaurant and grocery store it serves, attempting to stay present in the mind of its customers during the off season. Optimistic Realism designed the cards and hand-painted each one using a set of original stencils. View the cards.
